For the first time in three decades, Vancouverites hoping to groove to lasers and Pink Floyd will have to look some place other than the planetarium.

The iconic laser show is burning out this weekend.

In November, the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre said it was ending its long-time laser show in January, and spokesperson Tracy Cromwell confirmed Tuesday that tickets to the final weekend shows have already sold out.

“It’s been a great run,” she said.

“(The laser shows) have been around for 33 years and have created great memories for a lot of people who have grown up in Vancouver and are still in the city now.

“Now they’re bringing their children to take a look at what we used to see and hear the music we used to hear.”

Craig F. McCaw, president of Roundhouse Productions — the company that produced the show — said it was a Vancouver “classic” like the Lions Gate Bridge.

Although tickets are sold out and new seats will not be available, there will be a standby line. The last show is Saturday.
