MONTREAL - A group of Montreal activists is gathering today to denounce the practices of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service.
The People's Commission, which claims the support of 70 unions and advocacy groups, says CSIS has been creating a climate of fear and suspicion within the activist community.
The group says the spy agency has ramped up efforts against anti-capitalists, First Nations and student groups.
It says CSIS uses intimidation tactics that make people reluctant to continue their activism.
The group warns activists to avoid speaking or listening to CSIS agents if ever they are approached.
It has scheduled a news conference for this afternoon to discuss the issue.
