ZURICH - Switzerland goalkeeper Johnny Leoni will join Cypriot league leader Omonia Nicosia when his FC Zurich contract expires after this season.

Leoni says he turned down an offer from Major League Soccer expansion club Montreal Impact to sign a two-year deal in Cyprus.

The 27-year-old 'keeper says "it's too early in my career for such a challenge outside Europe."

Leoni has won three Swiss league titles with Zurich, and played once for the national team.
