VANCOUVER - Imperial Metals Corp. (TSX:III) has increased the resource estimates its Red Chris copper-gold deposit in northwestern British Columbia.
The company said Thursday the tonnage estimate is up 103 per cent to 1.26 billion tonnes from 617 million tonnes, and now includes assay results from drilling completed since a resource update in May 2010.
The measured and indicated resources at Red Chris are 8.89 billion pounds of copper and 12.90 million ounces gold, while the inferred resource 7.44 billion pounds copper and 11.35 million ounces gold, all at a 0.1 per cent copper cut-off.
That compared with 5.14 billion pounds of copper and 7.16 ounces of gold in measured and indicated resources in the 2010 report.
In addition to Red Chris, the company has the Mount Polley and Huckleberry open pit mines in B.C. and the Sterling gold property in Nevada.
