Man accused of sexually assaulting foreign students

A Vancouver man facing charges for allegedly sexually assaulting several ESL students was in court Monday.
David Roland Messina, who also uses the name “Dallas,” was charged with four counts of sexual assault against four adult women who were studying English in Canada, according to Vancouver police.
Police allege that Messina lived with the ESL students and sexually assaulted them during that time.
A couple of the students first reported his alleged behaviour to police in December, which led to his arrest last Friday at his Burnaby home after a thorough investigation.
The victims’ names aren’t being made public but they were all students from Asia, according to Const. Lindsey Houghton.
Houghton said cases like these are not common but may be under-reported.
Messina was previously known to police for allegedly scamming foreign exchange students in 2009 — collecting rent illegally from them and not passing the money on to the landlord.
